Cheerleading Stereotypes: Cheerleading is a Popularity Contest

I'm starting off a new series on here where every Saturday I'll give a new wrong cheerleading stereotype and reflect on it.

Cheerleading is a popularity contests

A lot of people confuse school involvement with popularity. They just assume that since a cheerleader is friendly or gets to know staff, students, and teams she is popular and in high school that's what a lot of people think is important. (IT IS NOT IMPORTANT AT ALL!) This is a truly wrong stereotype. Cheerleaders come in all personalities not just outgoing. There's in fact a lot of cheerleaders who are reserved and shy. Being popular and cheerleader don't always go together but of course cheerleaders are well known because they're the face of the school and the campus role model. They just have to make sure they're well known for good reasons.

Love,
A Cheerleader
